Introduction ~ Your Airbnb Hosts

I’m Marykay and my family has lived on our little legacy farm for nearly 17 years.  Our home and the neighborhood were built in the 1950’s on what used to be a dairy farm back in the day!  Although the original homestead and surrounding area has evolved quite a bit, I enjoy staying close to the simpler things in life; a garden, animals, good people, and the beauty of nature.

I have a full time career, working with global clients around the world and truly love my work. With more than three decades managing client relationships and having a passion for gardens, animals, and people, hosting guests at the Decatur Alpaca Cottage is a natural extension of everything I already treasure! To host well takes commitment, attention to detail, creativity, and it combines the hospitality Georgia is known for with a good bit of business sense. Another fun tidbit, as a kid I enjoyed building forts, and playing house.  Being an Airbnb Superhost for the past 5 years (and counting) is a lot like those childhood pastimes on a larger scale!  I joyfully sweat the small stuff; finding the perfect linens, decorating with just the right touch of fun and comfort, and finding ways to surprise and pamper our guests with little touches that show we care. In short, it is the perfect combination for me and has earned us 5-star ratings across the board!

My kids are both in the performing arts, one behind the scenes working as a set designer in NYC and the other studying Musical Theatre.  We enjoy our busy lives, but also truly appreciate time with friends and family.  The weekend usually finds me working with the animals or in the garden in one of the various areas I’ve cultivated over the years; the backyard perennial garden, the Cottage’s natural plant dye garden, or the organic vegetable garden next to our outdoor dining room!  I often say I am a much happier person for our animals and gardens ~ there is a certain calm that comes from a day of having my hands in the soil. We love our home, our neighborhood and city, and are honored to share it with our guests during their stay.
